Morbihan has a very important megalithic heritage, and considered as the oldest in the world. Menhirs, dolmens, cairns and tumuli dress the landscapes of Southern Brittany with their history. If the alignments of Carnac and the big broken menhir of Locmariaquer are among the most famous, there are more than 550 megalithic sites from the north to the south of Morbihan.
A megalith is a monument erected with large stones.
Historical site and monument
On October 22, 1977, the Tower of Penerf was finally registered. After this date, work and research on the building continued. Restored and bleached, it regains its role of Bitter (fixed and very visible object located on the coast and serving as a landmark to navigators).
We can assume that the Tower was erected between 1442 and 1450 under the reign of François I, with the objective of securing the coast. Idea for an outing! From the center of Damgan, you can follow the coastline and go to this monument by taking the direction of Pénerf.

The Kervoyal Mill was built in the 17th century1 on the site of an older one. It was declared national property during the French Revolution and then bought back a few years later.
The Chouan leader Georges Cadoudal would have taken refuge there in 1795 in order to take back the troops that contained the army of the emigrants on the Quiberon peninsula.
Exploited during many decades then left to the abandonment, it is raised at the beginning of the XXth century then restored at the beginning of the years 1990 by the local association Les Amis de Kervoyal
